Reliant Technology Offers IBM Storage Upgrade Program

Program will boost performance and capacity for Reliant Technology's IBM customers.

2011-03-08
ATLANTA, GA, March 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) Reliant Technology, an IBM and EMC SAN storage supplier, is proud to announce the IBM Storage Upgrade. The program is designed to assist IBM storage customers in upgrading their IBM DS4100, DS4300, DS4500, IBM DS4700 and IBM DS4800 storage systems.

IBM has released several new products in recent months, including the IBM XIV and IBM Storwize storage platform, leaving customers confused about the growth and upgrade path of their existing IBM DS4000 platforms. The IBM Storage Upgrade Program is Reliant Technology's response to the concerns of these IBM legacy customers.

The IBM Storage Upgrade Program will help IBM storage customers upgrade or duplicate their IBM DS4000 and IBM FAST storage environment, adding performance and capacity through the cost-effective storage solutions offered by Reliant Technology.

Reid Smith-Vaniz, CEO of Reliant Technology, says of the program, "We have heard the questions and seen the uncertainty from IBM customers on the direction of their IBM DS4000 platform. With the IBM Storage Upgrade program, we are aiming to fill a need for our customers with solutions that will provide flexibility and growth at an affordable price."

The IBM DS4000 series provides midrange SAN solutions for customers with enterprise storage needs. Upgrades to a DS4000 storage array can provide a wide range of disk capacity, disk speed, and interface speed, supplying additional growth potential for IBM customers. Customers can add disk capacity to their DS4000 platform with the IBM EXP810 expansion shelf, or upgrade to the IBM DS5000 series, including the IBM DS5100, the IBM DS5300, and the IBM EXP5000 disk tray.

Reliant Technology offers IBM solutions at any budget, large or small. In addition to IBM storage, Reliant Technology provides quality refurbished storage and SAN hardware from EMC, NetApp Brocade, Data Domain, and HDS.

The Storage Upgrade Program reflects Reliant Technology's 100% storage focus, helping customers to upgrade their IBM storage systems and improve performance through a cost-effective upgrade plan. The connection between a cell's cytoskeleton and its surface receptors

The connection between a cells cytoskeleton and its surface receptors
2011-03-07
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 6, 2011) -- New findings from researchers at Harvard Medical School in Boston and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto may shed light on the mechanisms that regulate the organization of receptors on the cell surface, a critical aspect of cell signaling not well understood at this time. The group reports on their use of the macrophage protein CD36, a clustering-responsive class B scavenger receptor, as a model for studying the processes governing receptor clustering and organization. The protein is involved in a number of cellular and physiological ...

Scientists probe the role of motor protein in hearing loss

2011-03-07
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 6, 2011) -- From grinding heavy metal to soothing ocean waves, the sounds we hear are all perceptible thanks to the vibrations felt by tiny molecular motors in the hair cells of the inner ear. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine have now identified the mechanism by which a single amino acid change can disrupt the normal functioning of one of the critical components of that physiology -- a molecular motor protein called myo1c, which resides in the cochlea of the inner ear. The mutation (called R156W), was first identified ...
