PARIS, FRANCE, March 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) Paris's Le Louvre is hosting Egypt in Paper Egypt in Stone, an exploration of the artefacts discovered by the travelling academic Prisse d'Avennes.
The show opened on Wednesday (March 2nd) and will be on display until June 2nd 2011.
It includes a huge variety of items relating to the history of Egypt, including prints, photographs and manuscripts produced by the archaeologist.
"D'Avennes was one of many keen travellers exploring the shores of the Nile in the first half of the 19th century, fascinated by Pharaonic ruins and Arab monuments alike," remarked the curators.
Visitors do not need to pay any more than the normal EUR10 (GBP8.60) Louvre ticket price to view Egypt in Paper Egypt in Stone, which can be found on the ground floor of the Sully Wing.
The show is open from 09:00 to 18:00 local time every day, except for Tuesday when the building is closed. On Wednesday and Friday the installation is open until 22:00.
Attendees keen to see more related pieces can view the venue's permanent Egyptian Antiquities department, which covers items from 4,000 BC to the 4th century AD.
