Autism Expert Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh to Host a Free Webinar on Effective and Flexible Interventions for Autism

March 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, world-renowned autism expert, clinical psychologist and the Executive Director of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD), will host a live webcast, "Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA): A Flexible and Affordable Intervention for Autism, on Monday, March 14, 2011 starting at 6pm PST / 7pm MTN / 9pm EST at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/autismvancouver. The free webcast is sponsored by Autism Today, the largest autism resource online and one of the leading autism and Aspergers resource distributors in the world.

"This webcast will provide a practical, informative introduction to applied behavior analysis (ABA)," says Dr. Granpeesheh. "This form of treatment is widely practiced in North America and many other continents and has been empirically proven as the most effective form of autism treatment."
Dr. Granpeesheh will also explain how revolutionary online tools and services now enable parents and educators to apply ABA more affordably and conveniently.

Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that is marked by the presence of impaired social interaction and communication in addition to a restricted repertoire of activities and interests. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism in America, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. An estimated 1.5 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide are affected by autism.

About Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA-D:
Dr. Granpeesheh has dedicated over 30 years to helping individuals with autism lead healthy, productive lives. She is licensed by the Medical Board of California, the Texas, Virginia and Arizona State Boards of Psychologists, and the Dubai Healthcare City. She also holds a Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Dr. Granpeesheh is an active member of many boards whose mission is to advance the treatment of autism. She is on the Scientific Advisory Boards of the Autism File Magazine, Autism 360, the 4A Healing Foundation, as well as the Practice Board of the Association for Behavior Analysis International, and the Board of Directors of InCept. Additionally, Dr. Granpeesheh is a member of the Autism Human Rights and Discrimination Initiative steering committee, the North Los Angeles County Task Force of the Senate Select Committee on Autism, and the Oversight Committee of the Department of Developmental Disabilities for the State of Arizona. She also is the founding member and President of Autism Care and Treatment Today (ACT Today!), a non-profit organization that helps families access effective treatment.

Dr. Granpeesheh is known throughout the world as an expert in the field of autism research and treatment. Specific areas of expertise and research include curriculum development from early intervention through the early stages of adulthood; diagnostic, developmental and behavioral assessment, higher order skill acquisition, long-term outcomes, and the effects of medical interventions in conjunction with behavioral programs. She has trained thousands of professionals and families on her treatment techniques and curriculum, leading to a faster dissemination of quality treatment information.
