SAN DIEGO, CA, March 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Having been a family-run business since inception, Lapack doesn't intend to change its core values on service and quality anytime soon.
Since inception, Lapack has always been a family business according to Executive Director Mark Smith. Mark, along with cousins Grant and Gary, now run the company after taking over from their fathers who founded the business. During Lapack's 30 years of trading, the company has less than one percent staff turnover and have seen other families grow within the business.
"In the factory, we have five families that work for us all from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. It started with the great grandparents and now we have all the children working here. In all aspects, it is very family driven" cites Smith.
For Lapack, technology plays a major role in the design and production of products as well as providing more streamlined manufacturing operations.
"We are constantly coming out with new designs, so we try and stay ahead with the latest technology," says Smith. "We make our own moulds and work in 3D which has helped speed up services in that division. We have put in a computer system called Sage X3, which is material resource planning software.
