BERLIN, GERMANY, March 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Next month, visitors to Berlin will have an opportunity to enjoy some of the city's finest opera and theatre performances deep into the small hours.
The third Long Night of Opera and Theatre is due to take place on Saturday April 16th in the German capital, with many cultural venues preparing to stage some after-hours entertainment.
Running from 19:00 to 01:00 local time, the event will feature both a selection of current repertoire and performances put together specially for the occasion.
Each of the 60 participating venues will stage productions lasting for just 30 minutes, with audience members encouraged to tour the various theatres and enjoy back-to-back performances.
With a single ticket, people can visit many of Berlin's top cultural institutions and receive a crash course in the latest opera, ballet and drama.
Due to the wide variety of venues involved, the performances on offer will also include popular music, cabaret, puppets, youth theatre and acrobatics.
A shuttle bus service is provided to help visitors reach the various theatres and pack as much as possible into the night, with seven different routes spread across the city.
Tickets for the Long Night of Opera and Theatre can be purchased online, priced at EUR15 (GBP12.90) and EUR12 for children.
They allow visitors access to all participating venues and the shuttle buses, as well as public transport in certain areas.
Venues such as Theater 89, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Galli Theater, Schlesische 27, Das Weite Theater and the Ballhaus OST will take part in the night this year.
Culture vultures can find a diverse range of Berlin hotels on offer at LateRooms.com, which recommends accommodation such as the Maritim Hotel Berlin.
