Health Market Science Enhances its HMS Provider MasterFile

Enhancement offers holistic view of complex customer ecosystem to improve the quality of account based information

2011-03-24
EMMAUS, PA, March 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) Health Market Science (HMS), a leading source for healthcare provider data and solutions, today announced the enhancement of its Provider MasterFile with additional information on hospitals and facility characteristics. The enhanced HMS Provider MasterFile provides comprehensive demographic information on over 7,000 hospitals, more than 52,000 Extended Care and Skilled Nursing facilities, 250,000 group organizations, clinics, labs, and over 1,500,000 affiliated providers.

"Hospitals and IDNs have significant power and influence over the selection and purchase of pharmaceutical products, surgical supplies and medical devices," said Jennifer Salvucci, SVP Product Development at HMS. "It's critical for our clients to easily access and understand their scope and size at the most granular level possible to improve their account based selling strategies including sales force sizing and alignment."

In addition, facility based information is an important component to managing reimbursement and compliance payments by healthcare practitioners and healthcare organizations. Accuracy and reduced latency of data helps mitigate the risk of non-compliance with state and pending federal promotional spend regulations and improves the ability to quantify aggregated promotional spend at the facility level.

Enhanced organization-to-organization relationships include:
Facility Relationships and Status
IDNs and the group practices related to a parent hospital
Relationships of facility (own, manage, lease, franchise, physician owned, etc.)
Teaching Status
Accreditations
Facility Size
Total number of beds per facility
Total hospital beds, short and long term
