LANSING, MI, March 25, 2011 (Press-News.org) IDV Solutions today announced that John Nelson, user experience manager for the company's flagship product, Visual Fusion, will speak on April 14 at the 2011 annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) in Seattle.
Nelson's presentation, titled "When is Where It's At: Puzzles and Pragmatism for the Inevitable 4th Dimension," focuses on visualizing data in the context of time, and incorporating time-based visualizations into interactive mapping applications.
The presentation will cover the benefits and factors to consider, and will offer recommendations based on Nelson's work on Visual Fusion. Visual Fusion is business intelligence software that unites data sources in a visual, interactive context for better insight and understanding. Organizations as diverse as Microsoft, Proctor & Gamble, and the U.S. Department of Transportation use Visual Fusion to increase their insight into business areas such as marketing, supply chain, and physical security.
"Time is a critical part of our visualization package," Nelson said. "When we see something in the context of time, it is so much easier to grasp -and when this dimension is compounded with a geographic perspective, trends really start revealing themselves. I'm excited to share some insights we've gathered at IDV, and more excited to learn from the research and experiences of others in this presentation track; it should be a good show!"
The AAG annual meeting, scheduled for April 12 to April 16, will feature presentations by geographers, GIS specialists, and environmental scientists on new geography and GIS research and applications.
