Interxion to Speak at AFCOM Data Center World Spring 2011

Managing Director of Interxion to speak at AFCOM's Data Center World Spring Conference About Best Practices for a Green Data Center

2011-03-30
LAS VEGAS, NV, March 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) INTERXION HOLDING NV, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services, today announced that Michel van den Assem, Managing Director of Interxion, will speak at AFCOM's Data Center World Spring conference, March 27-31, 2011, at Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel and Convention Center. Michel's session, "Improve PUE through Data Center Operations," will be presented on March 31 at 9:45 a.m. in Montego DEF.

Michel's presentation will examine the close relationship between data center design; operations and build; and energy efficiency. He will discuss best practices for improving data center power usage efficiency (PUE), as well as give practical advice on building energy-efficient, yet highly available and scalable, data center foundations.

Interxion's participation in the event - and on this topic in particular - demonstrates the company's longstanding commitment to data center energy efficiency. Michel himself has exceptional in-depth experience in the data center industry and has had specific responsibility for the design, build and operation of Interxion's six data centers in the Netherlands. Each of those data centers is designed using Interxion's energy-efficient modular architecture, with 100 percent green energy, free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard.

"For years data center professionals have been discussing the ultimate green data center but secretly wondering what it means to be 'really' green," said van den Assem. "Ultimately it boils down to measurement, and the key calculation is power usage efficiency (PUE). At Interxion we aim to make all of our data centers as energy efficient as possible and are fully committed to helping the industry implement and define best practices in achieving data center efficiency."

Interxion is a Contributor Member of The Green Grid, a founding member of the Uptime Institute's European Chapter, and a member of the European Commission's DG Joint Research Committee on Sustainability and its European Data Centre Code of Conduct Metrics Group.
