CLEVELAND, OH, April 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) While the new Medicare competitive bidding law has significantly limited the options of patients in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Lake and Geauga counties, also known as the Cleveland Competitive Bidding Area (CBA), at least one Cleveland-based pharmacy has found a way to provide free delivery of brand name meters and testing supplies to the thousands of area Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes.
In Washington D.C., a new bill was introduced by two Pennsylvania congressmen to repeal the competitive bidding program, which they say "limits seniors' ability to buy highly specialized medical equipment from the local suppliers they know and trust."
Meanwhile, Cleveland-based Diabetic Care Services & Pharmacy, a leading national mail order DME supplier has found a viable alternative that is sanctioned by Medicare. "As an alternative to mail delivery, we are driving orders directly to the homes of diabetes patients in the Cleveland CBA," says CEO Marc Wolf. "In accordance with Medicare regulations, we are using company employees in company cars to ensure patients can receive the high quality, brand name supplies they want, and have them delivered right to their door."
To assist Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes who live in the Cleveland CBA, Diabetic Care Services & Pharmacy has launched a new website http://www.diabeticcareservices.com/clevelandmedicare/ that explains patients' options. There are nearly 200,000 consumers with some form of diabetes currently living in the Cleveland CBA.
Diabetic Care Services & Pharmacy, a member of the American Diabetes Association, has been serving the healthcare and pharmacy needs of northeast Ohioans since 1989. Today, the company is recognized as one of the nation's leading mail order providers of diabetes supplies and prescriptions.
