JAMAICA, NY, April 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) "It's cruel," says author Wade Alan Steele, "But I love to throw characters in a blender just to see who comes out when the blades stop spinning." In his collection of short stories, A Sudden Dominance of Shadows, Mr. Steele sweeps the dark corners of the mind to find the hobgoblins that steer the hearts and minds of humanity. "When it comes to pivotal, life-altering decisions, there is reason and then there are the shadows that overcast reason; nine times out of ten I have made choices based on shadows."
A Sudden Dominance of Shadows covers a range of themes from forbidden adolescent lust in "Farewell, Avalon" to funny and frantic "Who Do They Think We Are?" where a middle-aged couple is forced to redefine their relationship after a bizarre night with friends. The stories move from rural to urban as did the author (originally from small town Minnesota, Mr. Steele then moved to New York City). The book is divided into two sections: "Shadow Genesis", in which characters fumble about with morality and "A Shadow Full Grown" in which characters are trapped in states of exhausted moral ambiguity. From the dark woods of northern Minnesota to a filthy subway platform, from a Pennsylvania farmhouse to the Gladiator Kitchen reality show, Mr. Steele examines the shadows that play puppet master in extreme situations.
Wade Alan Steele studied theatre at the National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City and is a graduate of Queens College from which he holds an English degree. He is currently working on a comic book, two novels, and several new short stories.
A Sudden Dominance of Shadows is available both in paperback and Kindle versions. You will find the book sold in print and Kindle format through his website: http://www.wadealansteele.com or through Amazon.com.
