SCOTTSDALE, AZ, April 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) K2 Adventures Foundation will host a fashion show at the Moroccan-inspired, luxurious Montelucia Resort and Spa in Paradise Valley on May 14, 2011. The "Summer in the City" Fashion Show will showcase independent, local designers of fashion-forward leggings, handbags, clothing, jewelry, accessories and more. Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase fashions in the show from vendors showcasing their designs. Individual tickets for the fashion show and luncheon cost $125.
Kevin Cherilla and Kristen Sandquist, co-founders of K2 Adventures, say that the event "is an opportunity to change the lives of children not just in the United States but the world." Through a partnership with Project C. U. R. E., K2 Adventures will be sponsoring and transporting medical containers filled with medical supplies and equipment to Tanzania during its annual hiking trip to summit Kilimanjaro. Fashion Show participants will be given an opportunity to purchase these medical containers at a cost of $150 (but with a true value of $2000-2500) each to donate to the Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind and hospitals in Tanzania. While in Tanzania, K2 Adventures also provides four full days of community service to the Mwereni School visiting with the students, filling the medical facility with supplies, and repainting and repairing the different buildings on property. This year through the generous donation of the Mendez family in Scottsdale, K2 Adventures will build a new $50,000 medical facility for the Mwereni School to offer medical care and treatment for the students.
In addition, attendees will enjoy a seated lunch and have an opportunity to participate in a silent and live auction, which will include a hiking trip to Kilimanjaro, and a character named in the novel, Murder on Kilimanjaro, part of the Summit Murder Mystery Series by Charles G. Irion and Ronald J. Watkins.
Jacqui Firestone, producer of the fashion show, says, "We are really excited about how the Fashion Show is unfolding, and the energy around the theme "Summer in the City" has just been amazing. We are thrilled that we will be able to showcase well known local designers and boutiques including Bella Legs, fashionable leggings, by Shannon Hinkson Designs and Roberto Mantellassi, an exquisite Italian leather accessory line, using the finest skins from the Gucci factory in Italy. Plus, guests will have an extra special treat when local firefighters hit the runway modeling the latest in menswear. Now talk about a fun way to kick off the hot summer season."
Various sponsorship levels are available to clothing and accessory vendors to sell their merchandise at the event and also include name recognition in programming and on the organization website as well as other marketing opportunities. Other sponsorship levels are offered to corporations and individuals for further underwriting needs.
K2 Adventures Foundation is a 501 c (3) organization, which raises funds for other non-profit organizations with a particular focus on those serving the needs of children with disabilities. Beneficiaries of this event include Hacienda Healthcare serving children and adults with long-term disabilities in Phoenix and Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind in Tanzania, Africa.
