Two Northern California Success Stories - Lost Pets Recovered with Revolutionary Missing Pet System

Northern California - (April 11, 2011) - Mark Jakubczak, founder of PetAmberAlert.com, announced today that two pets in Northern California have been returned home to their families due to the quick action of PetAmberAlert.com.

2011-04-13
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, April 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Mark Jakubczak, founder of PetAmberAlert.com, announced today that two pets in Northern California have been returned home to their families due to the quick action of PetAmberAlert.com.

Oakland resident Thomas Knecht contacted PetAmberAlert.com when his rescue dog, a brown Chesapeake Bay retriever, went missing. He worked with PetAmberAlert.com, which used phone calls, faxes and computers to alert thousands of neighbors, animal shelters, pet stores, police stations, and veterinary offices in the area. The system uses specialized software to reach people anywhere in the United States and Canada.

"The alert started working right away, because my neighbors began calling me after they received the calls," said Knecht. In conjunction with the alert, I also distributed flyers like the system recommends. Within days, my dog was returned home safely."

San Francisco resident Jonathon Ridley contacted PetAmberAlert.com when his cat Tux went missing. The cat was located only two miles from where it was last seen.

The two success stories are the most recent to note, but last year PetAmberAlert.com helped recover more than 1,000 lost pets nationwide and returned them to their homes.
PetAmberAlert.com was inspired by Amber Alert, the alert system that uses mass communication channels to send out information when a child is missing or taken.

"When pets go missing, pet owners cannot spread the word fast enough. That is why I created a fast and reliable missing pet alert system," Jakubczak said.

Jakubczak founded the company in 2005, but says the number of lost pets reported to his company have increased dramatically in the past two years. Jakubczak says the recession could be partially to blame because job losses and pay cuts force people to move more often or change their schedules.

"Relocation can often cause a pet to become disoriented," Jakubczak said. "Animals thrive on routine and any disruption in that routine can be very traumatic for them," he said.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, approximately 6 - 8 million animals enter animal shelters each year and approximately 3-4 million are euthanized. The PetAmberAlert.com system helps reduce this devastating number.

Through the PetAmberAlert.com system, not only are there pet detectives working on call 24/7, but featured pet listings also remain on the website for over 360 days, or until the pets are found.

"Every pet deserves to be returned home safely," Jakubczak said. "We don't want them to end up in a shelter or pound."
