HOUSTON, TX, September 11, 2010 (Press-News.org) One of H-Town's newest restaurants is putting the city on the culinary map as one of "10 Favorite Burger Spots" nationwide in the September 2010 issue of Bon Appetit magazine. Branch Water Tavern, located at 510 Shepherd in the Washington Avenue corridor, first stoked our love for chicken fried oysters, housemade charctuerie and bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits when it opened its doors last November. The burger, created by executive chef and owner David Grossman, is available during lunch and dinner service.
"If there's one food Houstonians hold sacred, it would be the burger," says Grossman, a native Houstonian who graduated top of his class from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. "Since opening our doors in November, we've continued to refine our burger to what it is now. We're more than thrilled to be included on Bon Appetit's list of favorite burger spots."
Grossman's 9-ouncer is hand-formed with never-frozen Texas Kobe beef. The hearty burgers are piled with white Vermont cheddar, house-cured bacon, Boston butter lettuce and a juicy slice of heirloom tomato, sandwiched in butter-toasted challah buns—which are baked just blocks away by Slow Dough. To complete the restaurant's ultimate burger experience, generous portions of thick, hand-cut fries and housemade pickles are served on the side.
Rounding out the list of Bon Appetit's "10 Favorite Burger Spots":
1. Yeah! Burger, Atlanta
2. Roam Artisan Burgers, San Francisco
3. Shake Shack, Miami
4. Little Big Burger, Portland, Oregon
5. Branch Water Tavern, Houston
6. Good Stuff Eatery, Washington, D.C
7. Bobby's Burger Palace, Philadelphia
8. Burger Up, Nashville
9. Bill's Bar & Burger, New York
10. Fatbelly Burgers, Carbondale, Colorado

Pushing the Envelope - with Envelopes - in a Digital World
2010-09-11
The U.S. Postal Service may have delivered 25 billion less pieces of mail this year than the year before, but that doesn't bother Envelopes.com one bit. At a time when emailing, text messaging, tweeting and video chatting are hugely popular means of communicating, the recently renamed online supplier of traditional stationery and envelopes has no intention of going the way of the ice box and the rotary phone. In fact, Envelopes.com, formerly Action Envelope, is not only holding its own against its digital competition, but is rapidly growing its business.

But at least one new nonprofit is banking on the desire for a more one-on-one approach.
