LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, April 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) The programme for Liverpool's Spring on the Waterfront has been announced and includes appearances by several tall ships and yachts.
As well as the vast array of vessels congregating at the north-west port, there will be a shanty festival, children's activities and taster sessions for various water-based sports.
Running from Friday April 29th to Sunday May 8th 2011, the occasion is free to attend and will host a programme of cultural walks and exhibitions over the course of the event.
"Spring on the Waterfront is set to be a fantastic event and it's a real credit to the maritime industry and other regional organisations who have worked with us at short notice to make it possible," commented Liverpool City Council head of events Judith Feather in a statement.
There will be a real energy in the air throughout, since street performers will be dotted around the area and two regattas are taking place.
For those who want to see the royal wedding on the opening day of the festival, there will be a huge screen set up at Liverpool One.
Marine enthusiasts can find a large number of Liverpool hotels on LateRooms.com, including city centre options such as the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool.
More information about the event can be found at http://www.liverpoolonthewaterfront.co.uk/spring/ or by calling the organisers on 0151 233 2008.
