Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Enjoy the Passion of Tosca in Paris

Tosca will be performed at the Opera Bastille in Paris from April 20th.

2011-04-21
PARIS, FRANCE, April 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Opera Bastille is hosting a production of Tosca this spring that harnesses the energy and passion of the medium to tell one of the most celebrated stories in history.

Written by Giacomo Puccini, the show has been seen by millions of people since premiering in Rome in 1900, but it continues to attract audiences all over the world.

It will be performed on various dates between April 20th and May 18th 2011, with Iano Tamar in the title role. Massimo Giordano and Carlo Ventre will share the part of Mario Cavaradossi.

In an official statement, the organisers said: "Puccini artfully combines the ingredients of a melodrama written for Sarah Bernhardt and comes up with what might be called the opera of operas, a spectacle at once primitive and decadent."

The Opera Bastille representative went on to suggest that Tosca captures the energy of the genre better than any other piece.

It is based on the French-language play La Tosca by Victorien Sardou.

Tickets for the production start from EUR5 (GBP4.40), with evening performances starting at 19:30 local time and matinees at 14:30.
