CARLSBAD, CA, April 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) In an interview with Business Review Australia, Spiritus Executive Director Don Luke explains how his 2,300 staff members rose to the occasion to deliver the best in community and residential care and social services during the recent Queensland floods.
Spiritus is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing caring and supportive services to communities throughout Queensland since the 1870s. The overall mission of Spiritus is to create a more caring, just and inclusive society consistent with the teachings of Christ.
Don Luke says, "I'm blown away by the passion, compassion, commitment and dedication of our staff. The recent floods in Queensland have shown what incredible people we have working for us."
Within a day of the floods, staff were out serving clients. Spiritus also connected with the Red Cross and provided managers and volunteers to visit people's homes. Now, Spiritus is looking at developing a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the Red Cross. "We're also impressed with the Anglicare network around Australia, which raised $140,000 for the organisation to provide services to those affected by the floods," Don Luke says.
