STUART, FL, April 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) has honored Doreen Poreba, APR, with two Judges' Awards during the Treasure Coast Chapter's Image Awards competition, which honors excellence in public relations programs throughout Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. The awards banquet was held April 20 at Indian River State College's Schreiber Center in Port St. Lucie.
Poreba, who is president and founder of the Stuart-based PR firm, The PR Czar Inc., has personally won more than 60 professional awards during her communications career.
Judges' Awards are presented for outstanding entries that achieve maximum results while using a minimal budget.
The first entry, "Priceless Promotion," won in the institutional category on behalf of the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast (HSTC) in Palm City. The HSTC launched an unprecedented campaign when its shelter became overcrowded. Due in large part to the PR efforts to promote the campaign, the HSTC's program resulted in a 33 percent increase in adoptions. The shelter also returned to its normal capacity.
The second entry, submitted on behalf of Connected Souls (http://www.connected-souls.com), won in the news release category. The news release, which promoted the CD release party for Connected Souls — which, at the time was an unknown music duo — received such tremendous media coverage that it resulted in a packed house during the duo's CD release party and increased their search engine optimization rankings from not showing up at all on Google to the first page.
"It's always an honor to be recognized by your professional peers," said Poreba. "To win any award in this competition, you have to be able to prove that your PR efforts met the project's objectives and produced measurable results. This is what I always strive for on behalf of my clients."
The entries will go on to compete at the state level of FPRA's 2011 Golden Image Awards competition. Winners will be announced at an awards banquet on August 9 in Naples, Fla.
