Lauri Elliott, Director of Afribiz, will speak on panel as to the strength of ICT innovation in Southern Africa at the AngelAfrica Enterprise Conference held on September 18th in New York City.

2010-09-14
WASHINGTON, DC, September 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) Afribiz announces that Lauri Elliott, its Director, will be serving as a panelist for the Technology, Infrastructure, and Energy panel at the AngelAfrica Enterprise Conference 2010 in New York City on September 18th. The panel will be moderated by Scott Schuster - a reknowned facilitator for prominent business and government events, an ABC News foreign correspondent, and Producer of NPR's All Things Considered.

The theme of this year's conference is "Southern Africa: Kicking Off the Next African Decade." This vibrant conference will highlight both the investment climate in southern Africa, which is comprised of 15 countries (SADC), and showcase the latest economic developments that make this region a stand-out region for investment and entrepreneurship following the historic hosting of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup in South Africa.

U.S-based professionals in various industries that focus on U.S.-African trade, business executives of successful regional companies and social entrepreneurs will share their vision, experience, and thoughts about the future of the region.

The AngelAfrica conference includes a business competition for African entrepreneurs located in the United States or Africa. Winning entrepreneurs get a chance to engage investors at the conference.

Ms. Elliott says of the AngelAfrica conference, "This is a tremendous opportunity for entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors to see how they can grow their enterprises and assets in Southern Africa. There is no other major region that provides the return on investment that Africa does as a whole." She adds, "Africa has become the new, perhaps unheard of jewel, of global trade and business as well. Watch what happens over the next five years."

Ms. Elliott leads Conceptualee, Inc., a strategy and innovation think-tank which focuses on creating new business ventures in emerging markets. She also specializes in global trade and business, entrepreneurship, ICT, and media. She is the author of "Export to Explode Cash Flow and Profits: Creating New Streams of Business in Asia, Africa, and the Americas with Little Investment" and "101 Leverage Points for Doing Business in Africa."

Afribiz is a "new economy" communication and community ecosystem focused on promoting increased economic opportunity and successful trade between Africa and the world, as well as between African countries. The driving factor is to support broad-based economic development through for-profit enterprise based on open, inclusive markets.

The ecosystem includes provisioning of information, intelligence, and insights about business and investments in Africa. Afribiz uses web, multimedia, print, radio and TV platforms to interact with the public and its members. It is a key brand of Conceptualee, Inc.
