OAK BROOK, IL, May 11, 2011 (Press-News.org) Configure One , a leading provider of web-based product configurator and electronic catalog software, today announced that Cleaveland/Price, Inc.—a leading provider of switching solutions for electrical distribution and transmission—selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator after a comprehensive evaluation.
After five years of using an in-house developed product configurator, Cleaveland/Price decided the time was right to search for a replacement. "The person that designed, implemented, and maintained our home-grown product configurator software retired," said Rae Sweeney, controller. "We never had time to upgrade the configurator over the years, we just maintained it by adding rules for new products. Instead of redesigning our in-house configurator, we decided to take the opportunity to see if we could find a software package that could meet our needs."
As a result of designing and building their own product configurator, Cleaveland/Price knew exactly what to look for in a new system. After a comprehensive evaluation the company selected Configure One's Concept Enterprise Product Configurator.
Configure One met Cleaveland/Price's requirements, and offered the advanced functionality the company was searching for. "Many of the products we evaluated didn't have any functionality that we didn't already have in our in-house configurator," said Sweeney. "The main reason we selected Configure One was the ease-of-use, especially in creating and maintaining configuration rules. Configure One was far superior to the other products we evaluated. After a proof of concept we were sold on Configure One."
Faced with the major task of converting their existing configuration rules to Concept, Cleaveland/Price has enlisted the help of Configure One to ensure they can replicate their current system by the end of the year. "Initially, we will use Concept in-house," said Sweeney. "But eventually our plan is make it available to our distribution channel in 2012."
As a result, Sweeney is expecting to see major benefits after Concept's deployment. "With the integration to Autodesk Inventor CAD system, Concept will enable us to automate the production of models saving time throughout the engineering configuration process. Currently, the average time from receiving a customer's order to delivering approval drawings is four to five weeks. We expect to reduce that time to one to two weeks."
"Many companies are replacing first generation configuration solutions with Configure One's Concept product," said Chris DiEllo, Configure One's director of eastern region. "Concept will help Cleaveland/Price concentrate on their core business, and not have to devote resources to maintain and upgrade configuration software."
