A Silver Lining Hosts Fundraising Gala "A Sterling Event" October 2

A Silver Lining Foundation hosts its 6th Annual Fundraising Gala "A Sterling Event" at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place on October 2.

2010-09-15
CHICAGO, IL, September 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) Get ready for a fun filled evening in support of a breast cancer advocacy organization A Silver Lining Foundation (ASLF). Celebrating its sixth annual A Sterling Event Gala, this remarkable night begins with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 2 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place (2233 S. Martin L. King Dr.).

Emceed by NBC Chicago's Ginger Zee and KISS FM's Ty Bentli, the evening includes a special performance by The Legendary Drifters. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on eye-popping silver and live auctions including lunch in Santa Monica with internationally known television and film celebrity Jane Seymour. Tickets are available for purchase at http://www.asilverliningfoundation.org for $300 per person, or $3,000 for a table of 10.

"The evening will be a great opportunity to support a worthy cause, enjoy wonderful entertainment and celebrate life," said Dr. Sandy Goldberg, who formed ASLF in honor of her late mother. "This will be a celebration of our sixth year of showing Chicago that there is truly a silver lining when it comes to helping those in need."

Launched in 2002 by Dr. Sandy Goldberg, a breast cancer survivor and NBC Chicago health and nutrition expert, ASLF provides cancer related resource information including treatment options and support services to uninsured and underinsured individuals. All proceeds from A Sterling Event support ASLF's unique Buy A Mom A Mammogram program, which funds screening mammograms at six Chicago area partner hospitals. Since the Buy A Mom A Mammogram program's inception in 2006, ASLF has provided more than 3,500 women with information about and access to no cost screening mammograms. In response to the growing number of women needing follow up testing due to a suspicious screening mammogram, ASLF began funding these potentially lifesaving tests in 2007.

ASLF hopes to build on last year's successful Gala, a night that saw more than 300 attendees and raised more than $170,000 for the organization.

ASLF's administrative offices are located at 134 N. LaSalle, Ste. 1218, Chicago, Ill. 60602. The organization runs three cancer related programs: Buy A Mom A Mammogram , the Chicagoland Cancer Information Coalition (CCIC) and The Evelyn Goldberg Center at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. For more information on ASLF or for tickets to A Sterling Event, please call the ASLF administrative office at (312) 345-1322 or visit http://www.asilverliningfoundation.org.
