Blanket America Works with Operation Once in a Lifetime and Introduces Star Spangled Throw To Provide Blankets to Soldiers

Blanket America and non-profit Operation Once in a Lifetime have come together in the name of helping American soldiers by providing them with blankets.

2011-05-19
NEW YORK, NY, May 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Just in time for Memorial Day, charitable organization Blanket America has joined forces with Operation Once in a Lifetime, a non-profit devoted to bettering the lives of U.S. soldiers in need of financial assistance. When customers buy blankets or any other product from the Blanket America shop and enter "soldier" into the comments section at checkout, a blanket will be donated to a soldier in need and a 10% discount will be applied to the order. In honor of Memorial Day, Blanket America is also introducing the Star Spangled Throw, available at http://www.BlanketAmerica.com/Content/Blanket-America-Star-Spangled-Throw, as its featured item for May.

"Operation Once in a Lifetime's goals and mission statement are right in line with Blanket America's. Both of our organizations are dedicated to supporting our fellow Americans, and we're extremely happy to be working with OOL. We hope to establish more partnerships like this with other charitable groups in the future," said Mesh Gelman, co-founder of Blanket America.

Operation Once in a Lifetime was founded by Patrick M. Sowers, himself a soldier who has a deep understanding of the sort of trials soldiers face - both while overseas and once they've arrived home. Since 2007, the Operation Once in Lifetime has helped roughly 1,200 soldiers; the group extends its services to all U.S. soldiers in need, whether or not they are deployed or wounded.

Among the services Operation Once in Lifetime provides is sponsoring bill payments and flights home for soldiers who can't necessarily afford them on their own. The organization also maintains a donation center in Plano, TX, where people can donate gently-used clothes, electronics, furniture, and other homewares. Soldiers and their families can also visit the center in the event that they need additional assistance.

"We're thrilled with the work Operation Once in a Lifetime has been doing. With all of the stress that U.S. soldiers must endure, OOL does its best to make sure they don't have to spend time worrying about keeping up with their bills at home or other financial troubles. Having the opportunity to be a part of this effort is a great honor," said Gelman.

2011-05-19
According to a 2010 survey by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, private-industry employees receive an average of eight days of paid sick leave after one year of service. Most businesses rarely take time to realize how much paid sick leave can cost them, and what they can do to lower the amount of sick-time taken by their employees. The first step is improving employee productivity, and that starts at the management level of each organization. What employees do is a direct reflection of leadership, or lack thereof. In my experience as a performance coach, I have yet ...
