ASD Releases the FieldSpec HandHeld 2 for Scientific and Field Spectroscopy

Portable spectroradiometer provides fast, laboratory-grade results for materials measurement professionals across many industries

2010-09-16
BOULDER, CO, September 16, 2010 (Press-News.org) ASD Inc. today announced the official launch of the FieldSpec HandHeld 2 portable spectroradiometer for remote sensing research, agriculture, environmental science and oceanography.

The HandHeld 2 is the latest in compact remote sensing technology from ASD using cutting-edge, near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to instantly and non-destructively make material measurements. Self-contained data collection with significant spectrum storage capacity and an on-board color display facilitate more efficient field work by eliminating the need to be continuously connected to a computer.

Other enhancements include ergonomically designed controls, laser targeting, standard AA battery power and a rugged enclosure to ensure durability and easy transport.

"Building on the company's excellence in portable NIR, the HandHeld 2 brings fast, laboratory-grade spectroscopy to field research," said ASD CEO David Rzasa. "Well-thought out enhancements, like laser targeting and onboard data collection, make this instrument a top choice for field researchers and scientists across the world."

The HandHeld 2 provides the performance required for a broad range of applications with a wavelength range of 325-1075 nm, accuracy of +/- 1.0 nm, 3 nm resolution, standard 25° field-of-view, proprietary DriftLock compensation for dark current and fast scan times. The unit weighs less than three pounds, measures 215x140x90 mm, and uses four rechargeable or standard AA batteries. The HandHeld 2 comes standard with a Pelican case that meets FAA requirements for carry-on baggage.

The HandHeld 2 continues ASD's state-of-the-art legacy in portable NIR measurement capabilities, saving scientific and industrial users data collection time while producing rapid, laboratory-quality results in a wide variety of applications.
