Box Company thinks outside the box, and then reinvents it.

BlegalblossTM of Cincinnati, Ohio, revolutionizes the way companies store information with boxes.

2011-06-15
CINCINNATI, OH, June 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) "I kept asking myself how it was that boxes remained the same for so long?" says Will Scott, founder of Blegalbloss LLC. an innovator with 7 patents pending with plans to file many more, on his revolutionary ergonomic grip technology, privacy compliance features and locking corrugated box products.

Scott (Cincinnati, Ohio) and a veteran of the Information Management Industry, started thinking outside the box for one of his own business which primarily stores letter/legal boxes in large warehouses. "When handling literally millions of boxes, we began to see the shortfalls in the traditional box design when it came to ergonomics, economics, and environment," says Scott who began executing his own box handling motion studies from the end-user's perspective. Scott determined that almost 70% of the box assemblers and handlers were women. "Now it looks as though 70% were women because the majority of these boxes are bought and used within offices. When filled, these file boxes can weigh up to 65 pounds. "I was shocked by that realization", Scott said.

"Can you imagine the repetitive motions required of the human body to assemble boxes all day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year? It was time for an ergonomic box", says Scott. File boxes are purchased and used for months, even years around offices and homes all over the world before they are place for long-term storage.

"The lack of security locking features and privacy labeling on boxes troubled me. Haven't you ever left a box lying around wishing you could secure it somehow or at least know if it has been tampered with? Well I did something about it and invented locking ports allowing you to secure a corrugated box. Sounds incredibly simple, but no on has done it, up to now." Says Scott.

"We all write things on the outside of boxes: names, account numbers and data. However, today if you work for a business, health care organization or government agency it is almost impossible to write anything on the box that won't get you into trouble with the compliance and privacy laws out there. My answer was to provide plenty of area to write information on the box but hide it from prying eyes. Because of these simple yet practical features my BlegalblossTM boxes are the most secure and compliant file boxes in the world", Says Scott.

The solution for Scott, reinvention of the box, with ergonomics and function in mind. "It seemed impossible in the beginning to even think about the reinvention of something as simple as the file box. What we have come up with is truly amazing and a game changer for the file box industry. All boxes will have to change after this," says Scott.

Scott brought his ideas and prototypes to Bob Mangine, current Director of Ergonomics at Blegalbloss who has four decades experience as a clinical Physical Therapist, with years of experience relative to repetitive motions, and forces acting on the body in a detrimental way. Scott and Mangine began to carve out a new, innovative way to maintain the box functionality while making dramatic improvements to the ergonomics, economics, and environmental elements of box design.

The boxes Scott came up with are stronger, quicker to assemble, have curved handles that improve weight distribution and allow for proper lifting and handling. "We can literally save companies time and money by offering productivity improvements and most importantly, avoid injury and repetitive strain," says Scott.

This reinvention of traditional design is making waves in the office supply, healthcare and records management industry. Says Scott, "We launched our new products at PRISM, the records management trade association, with enormous success. Lot of press and we have had a lot of buzz. It is also the first time I have heard a box described as beautiful. Can't a file box be attractive and functional?"

Large information management companies and national retailers are lining up to offer BlegalblossTM products over traditional boxes as commercially available products. "Office supply stores, online vendors and licensing agencies really see the opportunity and appreciate the ingenuity of the product," says Scott, who hopes to have this patented product in every town in America by next year. "There are literally hundred of industries that can benefit from the improved ergonomics in our box design. If it is a box, we can make it better."

"The sky's the limit," states Scott, who says BlegalblossTM projected sales are already $100 million. "The future is looking anything but boxed in."
