Villeroy & Boch Announces 'Play With Clay' Contest Winner

Contest during ICFF Show Produces More than 50 Eclectic Washbasin Designs

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ, June 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Villeroy & Boch today announced the grand prize winner of its recent 'Play with Clay' contest held during the ICFF show in New York. The contest allowed more than 50 design enthusiasts to participate in a pottery challenge to create the 'best' washbasin out of clay. The contestants where then photographed with their design and votes were collected via the Villeroy & Boch Facebook page.

Joyce Uang of New York City, won the grand prize of a trip for two to the Company's headquarters in Mettlach, Germany. She and a guest will enjoy a private tour the Villeroy & Boch factory and headquarters founded in 1748, as well as meet with German designer Oliver Conrad, a major influence on the company's bath and wellness product designs. Uang received the most votes for her eclectic design inspired by spring time flowers seducing one another.

"Villeroy & Boch was proud to host a contest where industry professionals could physically be a part of the ceramics design process," said Ben Fix, Marketing Communications Manager for the U.S. Bath and Wellness division. "Showcasing the functional yet aesthetically pleasing washbasins within a wide genre of design styles was fantastic. We are happy to help facilitate the creativity of future designers and hope to hold other contests soon."

The second place runner-up was a design created by Greg Wong of New York City. Wong's inspiration is a combination of geometry and the 1982 science fiction movie, Blade Runner. Rolexi Pinxon, the third runner-up was inspired by the swirling movement of water. Pinxon is an architect from Manalapan, New Jersey.
