AOC adds Platinum Micro in South Africa

AOC has appointed leading IT distributor Platinum Micro as a distributor for the South African market.

The new distributorship was formally launched on 1 June at the premier of the X-Men: First Class motion picture at the Nu Metro cinema complex in Monte Casino at Fourways, Johannesburg.

Platinum Micro product manager Martin Kruger said the company will distribute a range of AOC monitors including the AOC Razor range of monitors which offer ultra-slim cabinets of just 0.92cm and 1.2cm thickness with screen sizes ranging from 18.5" to 23".

"We will have stock within a month and will distribute the monitors nationally through direct channels, which are soon to be finalised.

"This is a huge brand coup for Platinum Micro and a great opportunity. It will lead to a permanent presence in South Africa for AOC and we already have a distribution channel reward and incentive scheme in place to attract top resellers. The marketing support from AOC is first-class.

"Locally the intention is to build up the AOC name in South Africa and turn it into a prominent household brand."

AOC's VP-Sales MEA & CIS Central Asia, Brian Liu, has stressed AOC's commitment to introducing practical solutions that cater for the diverse needs of today's world whether it be entertainment, gaming, presentations, displays or graphic applications. He also commented that worldwide, "the consumer market is demanding products that offer design functionality, wider applications, green credentials and competitive pricing".

Liu added that the LCD market in the MEA & CIS Central Asia region is evolving at a faster rate and AOC is looking to its business partners to drive sales in these markets, including South Africa. Years of in-depth market experience, strong product knowledge, keen customer insights, a powerful manufacturing background, sound cost structure and solid financial standing are the foundation for AOC's growth in the region.

The AOC debut in South Africa is from a platform that includes a superior product range containing some of the world's slimmest monitors, including the Razor series of LED displays.

Kruger added that the AOC Razor products offer the highest quality at competitive pricing. "The slim design does not compromise any features and the Razor has ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 50 million to one, technology that reveals darker image areas in greater depth than ever achieved before."

The unique "smart base" of the Razor monitor doubles as a VESA-standard wall mount. Other features include illuminated soft-touch controls and a graphic on-screen menu that provides user-friendly monitor adjustment.

On the environmental front, the LED backlight is mercury-free and consumes up to 50% less energy than traditional LCD screens. An "e-saver" technology enables users to set the monitor to a lower power configuration when the PC is in screen saver mode or powered off.
