July 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) Telstra has named the finalists in the 2011 Telstra NSW Business Awards and Luxmy Furniture has been nominated for the 'AMP Innovation Award'. The company is one of 20 businesses in the state that are finalists in seven categories at the awards.

"We're very proud to be listed as a finalist for the prestigious Telstra Business Award. In a difficult time for the manufacturing sector we are very striving to do the best by our staff and by our customers and this nomination is a great recognition of our progress." - Sudhindra Rao, Managing Director.

Luxmy Furniture has been striving to be leaders and innovators since it started manufacturing office furniture in Punchbowl in 1997. Luxmy adopted green, sustainable practices early and was the first in the industry to receive all major environmental certifications, helping it attract global furniture suppliers including Herman Miller and Haworth.

Luxmy was first to manufacture furniture in Australia with powdercoated MDF and pre-laid laminate on E0 board, an environmentally friendly pre-finished board that is free of toxic emissions and now an essential component of the Green Star rating system for buildings.

The company continues to champion new uses of materials, recently incorporating plastics in its joinery to create more resilient and adaptable products.

Bouncing back after a major factory fire six years ago, the company is about to launch a home furniture range enabling consumers to design their own tables, chairs and storage systems.

Speaking about being a finalist in the innovation category, managing director Sudhindra Rao said: "We've found it is often during times of stress that we suddenly discover new ways of doing things."

Telstra Business Group Managing Director and Telstra Business Awards Ambassador Deena Shiff said analysis of the finalists' business performance showed "the best NSW finalists clearly have a commitment to providing top customer service, which underpins their business growth".

Winners will be announced at The Westin Sydney on July 8. They will share in $500,000 in prizes and proceed to the national awards in Melbourne on August 26.
