1-800-GOT-SCRAP Takes Gamble on New Las Vegas Recycling Center

New Service Seeks Old Metal Items and Cardboard in Exchange for Cash

2011-07-22
LONG BEACH, CA, July 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Here's another reason Las Vegas is renowned for making winners out of people dropping "heavy coin." A new service has just made its debut that makes cash out of old appliances, steel drums, BBQ sets, dilapidated cars and other metal items. SA Recycling, parent company of 1-800-GOT-SCRAP, has announced the debut of a revolutionary new recycling center at 2780 North Nellis Boulevard in Las Vegas. Those bringing in any old metal objects will receive cash right on the spot, announced Cristi Rossi, executive vice president of operations for SA Recycling.

"Las Vegas has a reputation for taking things to new levels and, indeed, this new service takes recycling to the extreme. Forget about merely collecting aluminum cans as we are looking for major metal objects that we can recycle into new products," said Rossi. "We hope to inspire local residents to take a look around their homes and property for any old scrap metal items as doing so may earn them big dollars."

Rossi said that the process is simple. Gather all of the items you wish to discard and take them to the center where SA Recycling personnel will unload the items, weigh them and for most items we will pay you cash on the spot.

"You might have an old brass lamp, a refrigerator on the blink or malfunctioning tools laying around the garage just taking up space," Rossi continued. "Those items may be worthless to you, but not for us. We encourage those living in or around Las Vegas to take a look around the house as they may be sitting on a treasure trove."

For those who are unable to transport their discarded items, SA Recycling recently introduced a new service, 1-800-GOT-SCRAP. For a $50 fee, 1-800-GOT-SCRAP will pick up the items. The metal is sent to a facility where it is then shredded, sorted into various pure metals (e.g., steel, aluminum, copper, iron) and shipped overseas to be re-purposed into new appliances and automobiles. Up until now, many of these massive items have been dumped in city landfills greatly increasing our carbon footprint. 1-800-GOT-SCRAP ensures that the materials are re-purposed thus preserving natural resources and reducing greenhouse gases.
