The second Samui International Jazz Music Festival is set to begin on September 18th.

2011-07-29
KOH SAMUI, THAILAND, July 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jazz lovers have the perfect excuse to visit Thailand in September, as one of the country's newest music festivals is set to return for its second year.

The Samui International Jazz Music Festival will run from Sunday September 18th to Sunday September 25th, with international artists joining the bill alongside local musicians for a week of live performances.

Artists due to perform at the event include Rotterdam-based soul singer Ntjam Rosie, jazz pianist Peter Beets, Russian saxophone star Oleg Kireyev, Canadian vocalist Irene Atman and Bangkok jazz act the Aswin Quartet.

Concerts will take place at 11 venues around Koh Samui, the beautiful holiday island famous for its white sandy beaches, tropical climate and bustling nightlife.

Many of the performances, including all those on the main stage at Pru Chaweng, will be free to the public.

Although it officially began with last year's inaugural event, the festival traces its origins back to the Samui Jazz Series - a popular monthly programme of concerts that took place on the island in 2009.

AsiaRooms.com offers a wide range of Thailand hotels that could appeal to jazz fans attending the festival, including the Natural Wing Health Spa and Resort.
