WYNNEWOOD, PA, October 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) Hollister Creative, a Philadelphia area custom publishing firm, has won a gold award in the 20th annual National Mature Media Awards competition for an article that appeared in Milestones, the monthly newspaper Hollister produces on behalf of Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA).
"Inspired by grandma, architect runs writing class for seniors," by Constance Garcia-Barrio, was about Hong Kong-born Benita Cooper, founder/director of Project Best Day, a writing workshop at Philadelphia Senior Center.
Milestones is read by more than 180,000 mature Philadelphians. The publication delivers "News and Possibilities for Seniors," written by seniors under the direction of Hollister Creative editor Don Harrison, a 60-year veteran of Philadelphia newspapers. Hollister also provides art direction, photography and graphic design services for Milestones. PCA has been a Hollister client since 2001.
The Gold Award is the top honor given in the category for Single Article - Magazine/Newspaper/Newsletter. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit awards in 32 categories were chosen from nearly 1,000 entries in the contest, which is the largest of its kind and recognizes the best materials produced for those who are 50 and older.
Hollister Creative has won National Mature Media Awards for Milestones every year since 2003. The competition is presented by the Illinois-based Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market. Hollister Creative also designed the e-publication Milestones E-News, which PCA publishes weekly for adults who are 50-plus or caring for an older person, as well as the PCA website, http://www.pcacares.org.
