First Annual Halloween Fundraiser for Operation G.I .Jane

Event Raises Money to Support Single Moms in the Military Exciting Evening Planned with Costume Contest, Silent Auction and Demonstration by Special Ops Team

2011-10-22
ATLANTA, GA, October 22, 2011 (Press-News.org) Operation G.I. Jane, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting deployed, single mothers in the U.S. military, announces its first annual Halloween Fundraiser, Halloween Hoorah, on October 29th at Terminus Buckhead, 3280 Peachtree Road, Atlanta from 8pm to 1am. Proceeds from the event will help support the daily functions and on-going Programs of Operation G.I. Jane.

Halloween Hoorah is expected to draw attendees from throughout the metro-Atlanta area as well as from Washington, D.C. The highlight of the evening will be a Special Ops team from Afterburner rappelling down the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead to kick off the event. Guests dressed as their favorite military hero or character such as General Patton, General Eisenhower, Audie Murphy, Betty Grable, and Captain America, will compete for the $500 grand prize in the costume contest and swing away at the giant tank-shaped Piñata hoping to win an iPad2. The cost for the VIP reception with photo-op is $250, while general admission is $150 with all proceeds going to Operation G.I. Jane.

"Halloween Hoorah is on track to be the premiere A-list event in Atlanta," said Jula Jane, Founder and CEO of Operation G.I. Jane. "But more importantly it will raise money for and bring greater awareness to the plight of single mothers in the military who are putting their lives in harm's way to defend our freedom and keep us safe at home. They are the unsung heroes of the war on terror. They sacrifice not only themselves, but also time with their children to ensure our safety. Operation G.I. Jane recognizes and supports these gallant and brave women and that is the real meaning behind Halloween Hoorah."

Operation G.I. Jane has plans for an annual fundraiser set around Halloween with a different theme each year. For the inaugural event, they chose a military theme and appropriately named it—Halloween Hoorah.
