African Project Logistics - a Community and People-Based Logistics Service Provider

APL was founded in 2009 by Kriba Naiken who has a wealth of experience in the freight industry, having spent more than 20 years working for major international and multinational logistics companies.

2011-11-23
CARLSBAD, CA, November 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) APL was founded in 2009 by Kriba Naiken who has a wealth of experience in the freight industry, having spent more than 20 years working for major international and multinational logistics companies. He remains the Managing Director of the company today.

Naiken believes one of APL's defining characteristics is the fact it is a Broad Based Black Economic Empowered (BBBEE) woman-owned organisation. "South Africa is a new democracy and the logistics environment is often construed as a very male dominated area," he says. "It is one thing to be a female dominated company but another for all the female shareholders involved to be black." The majority of the directors, board and senior management of APL are women and this consolidates the unique gender leadership in the company.

APL is a company driven by strong integrated internal controls, pricing efficiency for the customer, innovation, service, safety and strong quality management. These values which drive the business place very high demands on the company itself and on the staff. Naiken credits the company's 30-strong team of employees as the key to APL's success: "We are a people driven business and our employees are the best in the industry. APL in South Africa is a very small but lean machine."

The APL team share a common dream, according to Naiken: "The people we have in the business share our vision of becoming one of the most efficient and well balanced project logistics companies in the world."
