MOL Issues English Version of Environmental and Social Report 2010

2010-09-23
LONDON, ENGLAND, September 23, 2010 (Press-News.org) Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL, President: Koichi Muto) today announced the publication of the English version of its Environment and Social Report 2010.

This year's report provides a detailed discussion of MOL's approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental issues in line with the main theme and strategies of the company's mid-term management plan "GEAR UP! MOL."

The first feature highlights the ISHIN project as the core of MOL's environmental strategy and introduces next-generation, environment-friendly concept vessels that MOL envisions as technically possible in the near future. The second feature discusses initiatives on safe operation, which is positioned as the first priority among MOL's core competencies, with a look at its efforts to ensure safety and make it clearly visible to all. These initiatives, as well as all MOL efforts to fulfil its corporate social responsibility, will appeal to a broad range of stakeholders thus evolve MOL to a company of choice and support the foundation of MOL's "Challenge to Create New Growth," theme of the company's mid-term management plan. This is conveyed throughout the entire report, starting with the message from top management.

Our Group Corporate Principles states: "As a multi-modal transport group, we will actively seize opportunities that contribute to global economic growth and development by meeting and responding to our customers' needs and to this new era, continually pursuing higher operating efficiency and promoting an open and visible management style that is guided by the highest ethical and social standards." The principle also pledges to "promote and protect our environment by maintaining strict, safe operation and navigation standards." Through those efforts, the MOL Group will continue to grow with society, sustainably and synergistically.
