DEERFIELD BEACH, FL, January 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Free indie films and documentaries site Festival of Films - located at http://www.FestivalofFilms.com - is presenting its new schedule of feature-length films, shorts, and documentaries for the week of Jan. 8, 2012. Streaming both recent releases and older films, Festival of Films provides piracy-free movies and funny videos online for both mobile and web consumption.
This week's schedule of new free movies online includes a diverse range of film content, from 15-minute short films online to recently-released Hollywood features. Starting on Jan. 8, the films being screened will cover issues relating to social and economic justice, racial relations, and other contemporary and historical socioeconomic issues and conflicts.
The lineup of free new movies online debuts on Sunday, Jan. 8, with an independent short film called "Trigger." Released in 2011 by the directorial team of Roderick MacKay and Dave Stephens, "Trigger" follows a mysterious character called Albert Green. The neo-noir thriller is dark and fast-paced, and gets viewers' pulses racing even in its brief 15 minutes, placing it among the site's most action-packed short films online.
Monday's film presentation maintains the tension and conflict of "Trigger" with the Hollywood feature film "Gangs of New York," which joins the website's collection of free new movies online. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz, the Oscar-nominated, Martin-Scorsese-directed modern classic was released in theaters in 2002. Set in the cultural crossroads and melting pot milieu of 1863 New York City, the film follows Amsterdam Vallon, played by DiCaprio, as he journeys back to the Five Points part of the city to wreak his revenge on his father's killer, Day-Lewis' Bill "The Butcher" Cutting. With its elaborate costumes and careful attention to detail, the film will satisfy period-piece buffs and Scorsese fans alike looking to watch free full movies online.
On Thursday, Festival of Films celebrates the career of director Steven Spielberg with its recurring weekly feature for fans of free new movies online, Current and Classic Movie Clips. This week, movie clips from across Spielberg's prolific oeuvre will be shown, from the films he has currently playing in theaters ("War Horse" and "The Adventures of Tintin") to his most classic and beloved films (ranging from "Jaws" and "E.T." to "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Schindler's List") and even a clip from "Amblin'," the first film he directed while still in college.
Both Wednesday and Friday will take viewers in a more sobering direction with free documentaries online that deal with issues of social unrest and racial discord. On Wednesday, Festival of Films will showcase "Dreams Die Hard," which exposes modern slavery within the United States. While many might think of slavery largely as a historical relic, "Dreams Die Hard" discusses how young women and men are enslaved every day, in over 90 cities around the country. On Friday, Festival of Films will add "Vanishing Black Male" for its viewers eager to watch documentaries online. Written, produced, and directed by Hisani DuBose, whose acting credits include "The Wire," the film sits down with prominent politicians, doctors, teachers, and law enforcement personnel to discuss the endangerment, repression, and future of the black male in America.
These features and more will be available on Festival of Films beginning Jan. 8, and web surfers that enjoy watching free movies online can log on to Festival of Films at http://www.FestivalofFilms.com or call 631-319-0160. Festival of Films can also be reached on Facebook and Twitter at http://www.facebook.com/FilmLovers and http://twitter.com/FestivalofFilms.
Do you like watching free movies online? If so, you've come to the right place! We've got free indie films and new movies online, just waiting to be watched!
