LateRooms.com - Savour the Flavour at York Chocolate Festival

The inaugural York Chocolate Festival will celebrate the city's relationship with the confectionary industry.

2012-03-01
YORK, ENGLAND, March 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) The first ever York Chocolate Festival is due to take place from Friday April 6th to Monday April 9th.

Celebrating the city's close ties with the confectionary industry, the event will offer a busy programme of workshops, tastings, lectures and other chocolate-themed activities.

The full schedule for the festival is still being finalised, but visitors can expect Easter egg hunts and special demonstrations from the leading chocolatiers in the area.

A chocolate market will be set up in York's Parliament Street, where people will be able to sample and purchase a variety of biscuits, cakes and other sweet treats.

York contained eight different confectioners for just 17,000 inhabitants back in the 1780s and the confectionary dynasties of Rowntree, Terry's and Craven's are closely linked with the history of the area.

Nowadays, the city's Nestle factory continues to produce one million Kit Kat chocolate bars each day.

People planning to visit hotels in York for the event will find a wide range of accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends The Churchill Hotel.

This converted Georgian residence is situated within its own grounds in the centre of York.
