PHUKET, THAILAND, March 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Phuket visitors will be able to compete in the Phuket Songkran International Soccer 7s this April, a celebration of the beautiful game in one of Thailand's most scenic areas.
The tournament will take place at Thanyapura Sports & Leisure Club and will see 40 seven-a-side teams competing, including squads from England, France, Germany, Russia and the Middle East, as well as Thailand and Asia.
Events get underway on April 13th with the captains' briefing and press conference at 18:30 local time, followed by a welcome party at 20:00 for all teams, referees sponsors and friends.
On April 14th, the games themselves take place, with teams playing in the open or Masters' categories as they seek to claim one of the many prizes on offer.
Food and drinks will be available all day at the playing venue before a grand awards party is held at the Taipan Discotheque on Patong Beach, which will feature a live band and free Thai buffet.
This event is being held as part of Thailand's annual Songkran Festival, a celebration famous for the throwing of water and paying respect to family elders.
