America First or Last Movement Plans A National High School Signing Day to Graduate from High School

CAMDEM, NJ, April 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) America First or Last Movement (AFLM) embarks on a campaign to pledge annually incoming high school students to graduate from high school. The pledge will be called 'National High School Signing Day for High School Class of 2016 (for this year's class).

The campaign's purpose is to have incoming high school freshmen to sign a pledge in over 27,000 US public high schools. The pledge includes five points: graduate, become computer literate, live drug free, not become a teen parent, and agree to enroll in post secondary education, via college or vocational school. And call for the student to sign their pledge at their local high school with their parent and the school principal signatures.

AFLM plans to develop a consortium of 20 national organizations ranging from educators, businesses, youth groups, parent organizations, and national media outlets to help work with the local school districts to sign-up 4.1 million students from Monday, September 10, 2012 to the official signing day of Monday, September 24, 2012.

The movement will also use social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MySpace and Pinterest to promote and to update the country on the progress of the campaign.

Albert Mitchell II, Organizing Director of America First or Last Movement said, "This will be are first attempt to organize the country around our mission to make the US number 1 in education globally. Our high school graduation rate now is 19th in the world. We can understand the skeptics, saying getting 4.1 million signatures is impossible. That's great, because this movement is about raising the bar, going for the limit, if we're not willing to go that far, how can we expect our children to try harder?"
