Cillian Murphy, who previously collaborated with Walsh in the hugely successful Disco Pigs, gives a solo performance of remarkable intensity as deluded preacher Thomas Magill.

Isolated in a rural wasteland close to the village of Inishfree, Magill uses a collection of ancient tape recorders and other props to constantly relive the cataclysmic events of a single day in his life.

Misterman opened at the National Theatre following a celebrated run in New York last year.

Murphy, who will be known to cinema fans for his roles in movies such as 28 Days Later and The Dark Knight, has been praised for his captivating turn in this dark and physically demanding play.

Tickets can be purchased online, priced between GBP12 and GBP40. Evening performances begin at 19:30 BST in the Lyttelton Theatre, with matinee shows on selected days starting at 14:15 or 15:00.
