LateRooms.com - Enjoy Sporting Action at Benidorm Rugby Sevens

The annual Benidorm Rugby Sevens will return from May 25th to 27th.

2012-05-04
BENIDORM, SPAIN, May 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Benidorm Rugby Sevens will return to the Spanish holiday hotspot toward the end of next month.

First held in 1987, the tournament sees teams from across Europe and as far afield as the southern hemisphere battle it out for top honours at the purpose-built Villajoyosa Rugby Stadium.

In recent years, the competition has attracted international stars such as Leinster and Ireland wing Shane Horgan and former Fiji star Waisale Serevi, who is widely considered one of the top sevens players of all time.

This year's edition of the Benidorm Rugby Sevens is set to take place from Friday May 25th to Sunday May 27th.

In 2011, the tournament was split into two sections, comprising club sides and national and international teams.

Among the countries represented were Spain, Chile, Wales, Romania, Belgium and China, while the University of Alicante and sides from Moscow, Gibraltar and Latvia turned out in the club contest.

The national and club competitions were won by the Welsh Wizards and Kebabs respectively.

LateRooms.com recommends a huge selection of Benidorm hotels that may appeal to rugby fans, including the Hotel Agua Azul, a three-star hotel that is one of the most popular in the town thanks to its location just 400 m from Levante Beach.

Additional information on the tournament is available at http://www.benidormrugbysevens.com/.
