MIAMI BEACH, FL, May 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Everybody's favorite storybook train is headed for Wasatch County. This month, the Heber Valley Railroad, in Heber City, Utah, will be welcoming Thomas the Tank Engine fans to the Day Out with Thomas Mystery on the Rails Tour 2012. On Memorial Day weekend, kids will be able to help the world's #1 Engine find clues and solve a mystery!
The day of fun features a 25-minute ride with a full size replica of Thomas the Tank Engine and a photo op meet-and-greet appearance by the Sir Topham Hatt character -- the controller of Thomas' railway. Additional event day highlights will include a Thomas & Friends Imagination Station where kids can Build with Mega Bloks and enjoy other Thomas-themed activities including hands-on arts and crafts, a Thomas storytelling and video viewing area, and more. Food services are available.
Thomas the Tank Engine was introduced to the world in 1946, as part of the original "Railroad Series" of children's books written by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry. Since that time, Thomas & Friends have won followers around the world through TV shows such as Shining Time Station and the feature film, Thomas & the Magic Railroad. The first Thomas-themed train rides ran in England in 1971. Today, tens of thousands of kids look forward to Day Out with Thomas events annually.
The Heber Valley Railroad will host Day Out with Thomas events on Friday, May 25th through Monday, May 28th. The railroad is located at 450 South 600 West, Heber City, Utah.
