HONG KONG, May 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) Theatre-goers will be able to see the history of Hong Kong brought to life in a spectacular dance drama called Evacuation Order, which premieres this June.
Staged by the Hong Kong Dance Company, the show transports audiences back to the 1600s, when Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty oversaw a mass evacuation of southern coastal areas to deal damage to an anti-government movement.
The dramatic story will be brought to life by traditional dance styles and original music filled with strings and percussion, which perfectly encapsulates the cultural identity of historic Hong Kong.
Evacuation Order will run initially at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre on June 1st to 3rd, with music to be performed live by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
Further shows will be staged on June 9th and 10th at the Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium with a pre-recorded soundtrack.
Tickets to the premiere shows are available from HK$180 (GBP14.50), while prices for the subsequent performances start at HK$100.
The Hong Kong Dance Company is one of the region's most acclaimed performing organisations, having staged more than 100 productions since its inception in 1981.
