Safety leader Dupre Logistics wasn't always the award-winning, trailblazing company it is today. Just a decade and a half ago, their much simpler, sales-focused model was thrown into chaos when accidents claimed the lives of three drivers in a single year. Tragedies like that have a way of drawing things into sharper focus, and that's what happened to Dupre.

Last year, Dupre's safety director Al Lacombe was honored with a prestigious award for the company's trend-setting program. ATA Safety Director of the Year spans the nation, and by any measure it's a huge honor to be singled out - but Lacombe would be the first to say he couldn't have achieved what he did without the purposeful support of a dedicated management staff led by Tom Voelkel.
