MURPHY, NC, May 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) AEGIS Power Systems Inc., a custom power supply designer and manufacturer has released and made immediately available its latest VME Power Converter Card. The VME550 Series of ruggedized industrial power converters are designed for mil-cots, defense, aerospace, telecom, and industrial applications. This newest VME power converter card family is available in a single slot 6U x 4hp x 160mm conduction cooled card, VME550; or in a dual slot 6U x 8hp x 160mm air cooled card with heat-sink, VME550A. The VME550 series operates with a nominal input of 28VDC (22VDC - 33VDC) and offers scalable power in a smaller size and lighter weight than traditional DC power converters and has efficiencies greater than 86% within an operational temperature range of -40C to +85C. The VME550 series can be configured for 1 to 6 possible output configurations with one output configurable as a negative voltage. The standard VME550-001 converter card offers four DC outputs (+3.3VDC up to 224W, +5VDC up to 224W, -12V up to 112W, +12VDC up to 112W) with a combined total output power capability of 550W. The outputs are line, load, and temperature regulated and have short circuit protection with automatic recovery after short circuit removal. The VME550 is the ideal solution to the VME interface bus requirements.

The VME550 power converter series are designed as the plug-in replacements for the popular VME450 Series. The VME450 series will still be supported for those customers that have already purchased them but the VME450 is no longer available for new purchase.

The VME550 series are EU compliant and CE marked to the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC. The VME550 power converters are also compliant to MIL-STD-704A/F and MIL-STD-1275D for input voltage transient protection, MIL-STD-810F for shock and vibration, as well as MIL-STD-461E for electromagnetic interference. Contact AEGIS Power Systems for the exact sections of these Mil-Specs that the VME550 is compliant to.

Skp2 activates cancer-promoting, glucose-processing Akt

2012-05-28
HOUSTON –HER2 and its epidermal growth factor receptor cousins mobilize a specialized protein to activate a major player in cancer development and sugar metabolism, scientists report in the May 25 issue of Cell. This chain of events, the scientists found, promotes Herceptin resistance in breast cancer and activation of glucose metabolism (glycolysis), which cancer cells primarily rely on to fuel their growth and survive. Their research focused on Skp2 E3 ligase, a protein that binds to and tags other proteins with molecules called ubiquitins, in this case to activate ...
