Haskell & White Expands Services to Cover REITs, Hires Roger E. Laty

The 20-year real estate investment trust (REIT) veteran will support an expansion of Haskell & White's real estate services into the REIT industry.

TUSTIN, CA, June 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Haskell & White LLP, one of Southern California's largest independently owned accounting, auditing and tax consulting firms, has hired Roger E. Laty, CPA, as principal. The 20-year real estate investment trust (REIT) veteran will support an expansion of Haskell & White's real estate services into the REIT industry.

"This expansion of our services is in response to a growing number of firms that are structuring REITS to foster growth and raise capital," said Brad Graves, partner in charge of Haskell & White's Tax Services Group. "Roger's extensive experience with some of the region's leading real estate firms enables us to offer clients a comprehensive suite of services in the REIT industry, further strengthening our real estate practice."

Haskell & White's REIT services will encompass government compliance, general tax compliance and consulting. The firm will also provide tax services and consulting to clients selling assets to REITS.

Prior to joining Haskell & White, Laty served as vice president of tax for Nationwide Health Properties Inc., where he created and managed a tax department that performed diligence, planning and tax filings for a $7 billion REIT encompassing assisted living, skilled nursing and medical office buildings.

Previously, he served as vice president of tax for Kilroy Realty Corporation, overseeing REIT compliance and planning issues for the firm's $4 billion office and industrial portfolio. Laty also has more than eight years of experience in Ernst & Young's real estate practice.
