LateRooms.com - Check Out The Miser in Bilbao

Bilbao tourists have the opportunity to see Moliere's The Miser during their stay in the Basque city.

2010-10-01
BILBAO, SPAIN, October 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) A production of The Miser is being staged in Bilbao this autumn that should not be missed by fans of top-notch theatre.

This hilarious piece was originally written by Moliere - whose real name was Jean Baptiste Poquelin - and features stunning production values and costumes.

Hotel Bilbao guests who choose to go and see this five-act show will be treated to an evening of laughter laced with incisive comments on society.

Despite the fact that The Miser - known as El Avaro in Spanish - was initially performed in 1668, co-author of this adaptation Jose Ramon Fernandez suggested its issues continue to remain relevant.

However, he stressed that the main character of Harpagon has not come to people's attention as a result of the economic climate.

"The theatre is not looking for current affairs, this is false: the theatre looks for that which is eternal in our path through life. Harpagon interests us because he talks about us, whatever the stock market indexes are doing," said Mr Fernandez.

Tourists keen to see this comedic performance can attend at various times between October 26th and 31st 2010.

Entrance costs between EUR6.40 (GBP5.50) and EUR21.

The Teatro Arriaga was first opened in 1890 and was named after the Basque composer Juan Crosotomo de Arriaga.

For more information on this event visit the Teatro Arriaga website or contact the venue on +34 944 310 310.
