CAPE CORAL, FL, October 01, 2010 (Press-News.org) Cape Coral Solar Electricity Company, Fafco Solar, is installing a 54kW solar electric (photovoltaic) system at the Lee County Public Safety Building (Sheriff's and Emergency Management's office) located at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
Ground breaking took place on September 6, 2010. The initiative is being funded by the Department of Energy, under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), using Federal funds without any additional cost to county taxpayers.
Says Jason Szumlanski, Fafco Solar's Operations and Project Manager, "The Lee County Board of County Commissioners has accessed Federal grant money to help reduce operating costs at the Lee County Public Safety Building." Not only will this put our local skilled solar technicians to work right here in Lee County, but it will continue to pay dividends to the county for decades. It will also decrease the County's dependence on fossil fuels by tapping the most abundant renewable energy source in the Sunshine State. In addition, it is a flexible system that allows for future expansion. Says Dominick Zito, Fafco Solar's Sales Manager, "We are proud to be invited to work with Lee County Officials that recognize the positive financial, as well as, environmental advantages of renewable energy."
Specifications call for Enphase Microinverters that allow the monitoring of each solar panel independently and maximizes the energy harvest of each individual solar module. Fafco Solar has more experience with this technology than any other local solar provider. Energy production will be displayed on an LCD screen at the facility, as well as, be accessible via the Web. The photovoltaic system will be grid-connected, but most of the energy that will be produced is expected to power loads within the facility.
The 54kW solar electric (photovoltaic) system will be capable of producing over 85 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. It will use solar panels that are made in America and conform to the Buy American Act and it will be installed with local labor, thus keeping the business in Lee County. The system will be roof-mounted using 236 solar photovoltaic modules.

Informed Savings with Energy Audits
2010-10-01
"Energy efficient" has become a buzzword used by HVAC, lighting and appliance manufacturers and vendors as a way to provide an instant solution and cut costs. In many cases, upgrading or replacing systems is a viable option, especially with the benefit of available tax credits. However, the first step to savings on energy costs is to determine what is actually driving the cost of energy in the facility and develop a plan for the operation and maintenance of existing and future systems. Replacement without knowing all of the facts may turn out to be a complete waste of money ...

Add Some Color to Your Comic Art Collection with Color Guides from Sketch Maven
2010-10-01
Long before the days of Photoshop, a special breed of comic book artist would meticulously hand color every panel of every page of art, bringing that black & white drawing to life. These artists were comic book colorists who created their own masterpieces, color guides. Yet Marie Severin, Jack Adler, or Glynis Wein never received the household name recognition among comic book fans that their penciling counterparts, like Jack Kirby, John Buscema and George Perez, did. While comic book colorists are still integral in the comic book creative process, the time honored tradition ...
