TORONTO, ON, July 05, 2012 (Press-News.org) FrostByte Media's singer/songwriter Melissa Bel has been selected as one of the featured artists at the Honey Jam Showcase on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at The Mod Club in Toronto, Ontario.
In June, Melissa auditioned with hundreds of other female performers with her song, "Distance", the title track from her recently released EP. Each performer was given approximately 90 seconds to audition their music before a set of judges.
The showcase is heavily advertised, including a promotional compilation CD with all the featured artist music included. The Jam also includes an opportunity for a winning artist to be sent to the Barbados for a performance concert and an opportunity on Canada's Walk of Fame performance.
This news comes only days after Melissa Bel's concert this past Tuesday, the 26th, at the Quai des Brumes in Montreal, Quebec.
"We wanted to make sure we'd get some kind of a crowd with at least the usual people at that venue, 5pm on a weekday. However, we quickly noticed people cheered with unexpected enthusiasm - not only after the first song but throughout both sets, cheering louder when Melissa pushed her voice.... there was not a seat available!" recalls Melissa's team. If this is the unexpected effect she had at the Quai des Brumes in Montreal, then fans and guests alike at the Honey Jam Showcase should be in for a great show.
Honey Jam, celebrating its 17th anniversary, is an all female multicultural multi-genre artist showcase produced by PhemPhat Entertainment Group, a non-profit organization which also provides educational and mentoring opportunities for artists as well as supports and promotes women charities such as the YWCA's programs for women and girls.
Over the last 15 years, PhemPhat has produced the successful all-female talent showcase called "Honey Jam" featuring a wide variety of local dj's and artists representing hip hop, jazz, gospel, reggae, blues, r&b, dance and spoken word. The Honey Jams are stellar showcases of homegrown talent. Hundreds of artists have played for hyped and capacity crowds including Nelly Furtado, Jully Black, Anjulie, Graph Nobel, Toya Alexis, Natasha Waterman, Melanie Durrant and many more.
