LateRooms.com - Jazz Star Esperanza Spalding Set for Barcelona Show

Jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding is heading to Barcelona for a performance at this summer's Grec Festival.

2012-07-11
BARCELONA, SPAIN, July 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) American jazz artist Esperanza Spalding will bring her award-winning talents to Barcelona's Teatre Grec later this month.

The 27-year-old performer from Portland, Oregon is due to appear at the open air venue on Monday July 23rd as part of this summer's Grec Festival of Barcelona.

Spalding's prodigious talents as a bassist and singer saw her become the first ever jazz musician to win the Grammy Award for best new artist in 2011, allowing her to follow in the footsteps of established stars such as Adele, Amy Winehouse and Alicia Keys.

Her 2008 album Esperanza spent more than 70 weeks at the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart, while subsequent albums Chamber Music Society and Radio Music Society have been similarly well received.

Tickets to see Spalding perform in Barcelona are priced between EUR16 and EUR35 (GBP12.80 and GBP28), with the show due to begin at 22:00 local time.

The Grec Festival of Barcelona, one of the city's biggest cultural attractions of the year, is based at the Teatre Grec but incorporates many other venues around the Catalan capital.
