HOBOKEN, NJ, July 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Soccer Parents looking for fun summer activities are helping propel North America into the world leader in beach soccer tournaments, one of the fastest growing trends in sports. With one of the planet's largest inhabitable coastlines, beach soccer tournaments are popping up across the United States from Santa Cruz, California to Brigantine Beach, New Jersey.
The 2012 beach soccer season features one hundred and five tournaments nation-wide, with the majority located in California and the North East. The popularity of the beach soccer has been growing rapidly in the North East especially at the Jersey Shore, with participation expanding from a handful of teams in 2002 to more than 1,100 teams at some tournaments in 2012.
"Beach Soccer gives soccer Moms and Dads something they don't get at regular grass tournaments - a relaxing day," said Niall Swan, Founder and CEO of Soccer Resort, the sponsor of the event. "At the end of the day everybody gets to come back home stress-free, with a smile on their face, especially the Dads and Moms who play in the adult part of the tournament," said Swan.
For local Philadelphia soccer parents, the Jersey Shore is the closest place to play and compete against youth teams from New York and New Jersey. The newest tournament in town for girls and boys teams is the 2012 Atlantic City Beach Soccer tournament. Soccer players from aged seven to forty seven will compete on August 18 at the Brigantine Beach - one of the most family oriented beaches at the Jersey Shore and a favorite destination for Philadelphians.
The event coincides with the free annual Atlantic City Air Show, which takes place the evening before the tournament, adding another great reason to join the fun in Brigantine.
"As a mother of two pre-teen boys I always look for events that will please all members of my family. Our kids are very active and love the beach. So when we heard about this youth tournament, we all got very excited," said Dawn Urbach from Springfield, NJ. "At the end of August, when most summer camps are already closed for the season and parents are running out of vacation days, but still wish to spend some family time with their kids, Soccer Resort comes in with a great end-of-summer solution."
Less than an hour from Philadelphia and only a two-hour drive from Manhattan, Brigantine, is "the perfect location for the tournament," said Swan. "Brigantine Beach was an obvious choice when we were looking for a family friendly, clean and safe environment for all ages," he continued. "The 2012 Atlantic City Beach Youth Soccer tournament offers a unique opportunity that will leave the whole family satisfied." Jersey Shore is famous for its boardwalks, delicious fudge, ice cream, and beautiful beaches.
Applications for the 2012 registration are being accepted until August 13 and interested teams should contact Niall Swan at travel@soccerresort.com or call (718) 433-2452. For sponsorship packages please contact Mark Andersen at tournaments@soccerresort.com or call (646) 688-3370.
