BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) In a field of 500 players, longtime Las Vegas resident Christina Kwan went deep to cash in 20th place at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Deepstack Tournament on July 4th at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino, home to the world's largest poker event series every year. Putting up a great fight at the table however is no stretch for Kwan who is most notable for her accomplishments in boxing as the former United States National Champion and World Amateur Champion at the 95 pound weight limit.
Preparing for a fight in either realm is literally a seamless transition for Kwan as her marketing and media company, Kwan International, located at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, encompasses a full boxing facility, competition-sized ring and all, while being enclosed by poker tables. Adjacent to the ring and poker tables rests her 18-foot 1,300 horsepower drag boat which displays the efforts of a project she has built and will be racing. "What's defining is to enter the industries and settings that are unlikely for someone like me. I'm driven to break a classified mold and to do that, I have to work ten times harder than the competition, but I thrive on that challenge," said Kwan.
Working within a multitude of intertwining platforms, Kwan's team is comprised of an eclectic mix of individuals who are also World Series of Poker dealers and players. Together, they prepare Kwan for the tables, the ring and the water. Partnering with Diane Fischer of Dee Lee Promotions, Kwan is simultaneously preparing for a fight this fall at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Atlantic City. "I am honored to have someone like Christina Kwan who is an ambitious and educated businesswoman who has pursued so many of her passions in so many different markets," said Fischer.
Equally as excited to make her ring return on the east coast, Kwan said, "From one gaming destination to another, I am tremendously looking forward to boxing in Atlantic City. From my visit to Atlantic City two years ago, I greatly enjoyed the people of the east coast and their culture and was absolutely amazed by the breathtaking view of the ocean from the casinos and I knew that when I returned to boxing that I would want to fight there."
In their distinguishing roles as defining women, the pairing of Fischer and Kwan is natural. Fischer has groundbreaking achievements as a woman boxing promoter - a feat that is generally unheard of in the male dominated sport. "The inclusion of women's boxing in the 2012 London Olympics is going to give the credibility and validation that our sport deserves," said Kwan. "For how Diane has fought uphill battles to accomplish what she has as a promoter, I am honored to have the opportunity to work with a woman who is truly a pioneer."
The WSOP concludes in Las Vegas as the final nine players, dubbed the "October Nine", in the Main Event have just been determined. After two women, France's Gaelle Baumann and Norway's Elisabeth Hille, narrowly missed the cutoff finishing in 10th and 11th place respectively, the eventual Main Event champion, who will collect $8.5 million, will be determined in October when competition resumes.
With the break from WSOP and its anticipated return, October serves as a culmination for many of her endeavors. She continues to train for her fight in October while also working in conjunction with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Nitro Drag Racing series and its sponsors that return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that same month. Immediately following the NHRA national event is the Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) annual convention which is the world's largest automotive convention. For her role within SEMA, Kwan is serving her second elected term on the organization's businesswomen's board. And, not to mention, she will wrap up the final steps that will get her drag boat race ready for the following season. Paralleling a city that runs 24-hours a day, Kwan's momentum is an unrelenting climb to the top that isn't slowing down anytime soon.

The highly anticipated release of Lamborghini's next supercar - the Aventador - weakened the knees of car critics and auto fanatics last year when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. With all the technological advances inherited from previous vehicle releases, combined with the stealth of a 7-speed automated manual, V12 6.5 litre, 694 horsepower engine, the Italian car giant had already received 18 months worth of car production in the initial phases of vehicle debut.
The Motor Report called it a 'hero' car, and it's obvious how it won the title. In July 2012 ...
