NEW YORK, NY, July 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) Tout'd, a "Digital Word-of-Mouth" social media platform and referral engine that allows exclusive communities of friends to easily collect and share recommendations, today announced the closing of its initial $1.4 million seed stage funding round.
Tout'd founders and more than 25 third-party investors participated in the financing designed to accelerate growth, enhance the user experience and further develop the platform interface and functionality. Venture investment firm Warner Hill Angels led the financing.
Tout'd allows users to ask questions first and foremost which in turn sparks content generation. Friends are helping friends recommend experiences through a closed digital forum where anyone can ask or provide suggestions on anything from an engagement party venue to a kid-friendly museum. Optimized for desktop and mobile, Tout'd provides instant notifications for users whether they are in front of a computer or on the go.
"We believe that Tout'd is fulfilling a niche in the social media recommendation space that simply wasn't available before," said Rob Morelli, co-founder of Tout'd. "Now, instead of getting recommendations from strangers or paid reviewers, Tout'd enables individual users to leverage opinions from a network of trusted, personal friends."
Tout'd was founded by Wall Street veterans Rob Morelli, Saro Cutri, and 2007 TechStars alumnus Arron Kallenberg.
